MIDI file does not play due to MIDI sequencer not installed.
Cause:
The MIDI sequencer has not been installed.
Solution:
Open the 'Control Panel' and double-click the 'Multimedia' icon. Click the 'MIDI' tab and click 'Add New Instrument...'.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
3) Double-click the 'Multimedia' icon. (The 'Multimedia Properties' dialog box appears.)

4) Click the 'MIDI' tab.
5) Click 'Add New Instrument...'. (The 'MIDI Instrument Installation Wizard' dialog box appears.)

6) Select the MIDI port to which the new instrument will be connected and click 'Next'.
7) Select the instrument definition and click 'Next'.
8) Type a name for the instrument in the 'Instrument name' box and click 'Finish'.

9) Click the 'Advanced' tab.
10) Double-click 'MIDI Devices and Instruments'. (The branch expands and displays all installed MIDI devices.)

11) Select the MIDI sequencer and click 'Properties'. (The selected MIDI sequencer 'Properties' dialog box appears.)

12) Click the 'General' tab.
13) Select the 'Use MIDI features on this device' radio button and click 'OK'.

14) Click 'OK' to close the 'Multimedia Properties' dialog box.
15) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to exit the 'Control Panel' window.
